The post holder will work as part of the multi disciplinary team and delivering a high standard of patient centred care. 1.Summary of duties and responsibilities


1.1 Ensure high standards of care for patients and their families by:

1.5Manage nursing care and assist with additional management requirements:

§to hold crash bleep 06 when taking charge of Critical Care as a
member of the resuscitation team

1.6 Contribute to the effective management of critical care and departmental staffing by:
adopting a flexible approach to personal off duty rota

participating in effective use of temporary staff
working in other areas within the Paediatric Centre as required

2.Core Functions

2.3Within a system of case management, co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patient care and to report any variance appropriately

2.7Act as a professional resource across the organisation

2.10Ensure the correct storage and administration of medications in accordance with the hospital policies and ensure the safe handling of drug keys at all times
2.11Adopt the correct administrative procedures when dealing with complaints from patients/relatives, ordering transport, purchasing etc. following set policies and procedures

3. General Functions

3.1Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and friends at all times
3.2Be aware and conversant with the Health and Safety at work Act (1974) and Data Protection Act (1998) to ensure a secure and safe environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
3.3Be aware of, and conversant with all hospital and emergency policies and procedures, e.g. Health and Safety, Fire, Code Blue, and Bomb Alert - and to attend all mandatory study days
3.4Exercise the use of universal precautions in all care environments to protect self and others from risk of infection or injury
3.5Communicate and liaise with the MDT
3.6Act at all times as the patient/staff advocate

A vacancy exists within the Central Engineering, Electrical Engineering technical unit, to support the provision of flexible electrical engineering resources to project teams. Working within the trans-national department, the technical unit provides EMC, Electrical Power System, RF Communication System, and Electrical Interface design support to both Earth Observation (EO), and Telecom (T) business units.

As part of the Central Electrical Engineering in UK, the candidate shall carry out electrical engineering activities in support to the project system teams within the business units. With particular focus in any of the following disciplines :EMC, Electrical Power System, RF Communication System, and Electrical Interface design disciplines, it will be expected that a secondary skill set is developed in order to maintain a multi-skilled flexible team aimed at fulfilling the varied demands of the projects. In particular EMC analysis and test experience is desired.

Reporting to the UK Electrical Engineering department manager, the role of the electrical engineer is
Deriving electrical requirements for components from the subsystem specification
Understanding system restrictions and ensuring compatibility of design.
Performing detailed analysis and tradeoff tasks associated with the electrical design requirements and provide support to the electrical system architect, including provision of detailed design documentation.
Where necessary, review of supplier documentation in line with the detailed design requirements, and approval of any test reports/results.
Input to top level system specifications as requested.
Use and maintenance of department tools and processes which include proprietary and commercial software applications.
Participation in R&D activities

The successful candidate will like to work in a trans-national team, be open minded and have a pro-active attitude. Within the initial setup he/she will be connected for the day to day management to the UK department, with additional technical guidance, tools & expertise provided by departments in Germany and France
A good recognition as a customer orientated service provider by the different UK-BU's is important for this job.

Qualifications and/or Skills
Comprehensive understanding of one of the key electrical disciplines outlined above, with a desire further develop a second skill to support the multi-skilled engineering approach.
EMC analysis and/or test experience in particular is desired
Preferably degree qualified in relevant discipline, however consideration will be given to relevant experience.
Space or aerospace experience is desirable, but not essential, providing evidence is available to support experience of similar technical industry.
Open minded, pro-active, service orientated, ablity to work in a trans-national environment.

The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
